Dons Dam- Senior Bike ride 2021

Last Week room 4 went on a mountain bike ride. We started at the bottom of the Rakauroa went headed down the road and stopped up by a woolshed for some morning tea. We then made our way past the Rakauroa Quarry and up a big step hill called smarts road. I was in the top group with Duncan,Rylee,Hayley,James and I. Our adult in the group was called Adam he said if you can make it up the hill I will give you three lollies and I made it I said to him now were's my lollies he said here you go you earn it thank you Adam. We then Headed down a couple of hill and up to Mrs Bennett's wool shed we had lunch and played a massive game of hide and go seek. We met Lou, she had a big pot full of hot chocolate and tub full of lollies chocolate and lot's more we each he to get a peace of fruit each. We then bike another 10 or so more km to Don's wool shed that's where we were going to stay. And before you knew it he had a massive swimming dam. We slept over night then the next morning we went for a swim it was nice and refreshing. We headed off to our pick up place where our parents were waiting over all the bike was the best and that was my last bike ride for Matawai school.

This was our first outdoor adventure for our William Pike challenge we are completing this year.  

2021 profile update

 

Kia ora my name is Maranga, I am a year eight and I go to Matawai School. My favourite thing to do at school is to play with my friends and play sports. I love dogs and riding motorbikes, I enjoy Mustering deer and cattle and working with animals. I have one brother and one sister; I live with my grandparents. We live on a station called Tuhaka and my Grandad is the manager.

I love maths and enjoy doing made up writing, I am good at my times tables, The best thing that I enjoy about maths is adding, taking away and times tables. My challenges are long divisions and fractions. My goals for this year is to learn and understand geometry.

I am looking forward to our senior bike ride, winter rugby and swimming sports. I really want to improve on my breast stroke and get in the rhythm of doing it right and perfect. This year we are doing the William Pike challenge and I really think he is going to inspire me to do things that I've never tried before, and  'Just do it' just like that Nike tee shirt says.

Would You Rather z

 Last week we had a fun writing task when Mrs Bennett said we are doing would you rather statement I said yes. I haven't done would you rather statements for a long time, last time I did It was last year so I had to make some good ones I said. One of mine was would you rather crewz around in a 1970 dodge super charge or tanner foxes GUACZILLA.I really enjoyed doing the would you rather statements it was fun learning and it was one of the funnest writing tasks.

Ice cream Challenge

The years 7 had a challenge today to design a new flavoured ice cream. We had to include one fresh element. My fresh element is strawberry. I have named my ice cream Choc vanilla strawberry dream. We created a poster using  postermywall to advertise our new flavour. Here is my poster.

Sound Trap

In the past week we have been creating a instrumental. Which is just sounds no talking. My image is a basket ball hoop on a sun set. My favourite part was looking at all of the different beats. I found it challenging to get the right beats to go with my image.

Unsuccessful Robots!

Robotic

 Instead of doing tech we did robotics with (Mr Knight). We were going to play a game of soccer with the robots.

In my team was Jaimee,Duncan and I.

Our main focus was to work together and talk and listen to each others ideas to make the robot successful.

For our crazy tech this morning we made robots. Our challenge was to make a soccer person on top of our robot so it looked like it had design. It was hard to connect some of the parts. Like the battery and the taking it apart. Duncan was working on the chassis, I was doing the battery and the outer body. Jaimee was to the bumper to score a goal. Next time i would be a bit more onto it and think a bit harder about making to and following the
instructions properly. In the end we didn't end up playing the soccer game because our robots weren't finished. 

Today i was learning  how to make a gif about yeast.The gif was a science experiments was how to activate yeast I enjoyed today because it was my first time making a gif. I liked gathering all the images  for the gif.

Blog Statistics

Today I was learning how many blog posts that our whole class have made. It was interesting how the class had such different amounts of posts.

I enjoyed looking at how many different amounts of blog posts that people have done or created and finished.

I found it challenging to make my own graph. I had to do the same thing that our cybersmart teacher showed us. We made our graphs and I enjoyed customising the colour, background colour and the title.

My digital learning shows that I know how to make a graph.

Next time I would change the graph into a different kind of graph to show the same data.

About Me

Kia Ora, my name is Maranga. I am a year 7 student learning at Matawai.I live on a station with my Papa,Nan and my sister. We have a trophy farm. We have around 240 deer on our station and we have over 200 wild deer that graze.Our farm is 2720 acres. And my Papa and I love going hunting.

My biggest focus was to complete all my times tables and I studied for about 6 months to learn all the times tables. This year I'm looking forward to going to the senior camp. My favourite sport to play is rugby. I watch the New Zealand warriors and the New Zealand All Blacks.We also play capture the flag at school. 

This year's focus for me is to get my handwriting better and do a little bit of linking with the handwriting on the white board. I want to try and put more description in my writing. And not to make boring words. 

Lorde/Ella

Today I was learning to how to make a poster.

I enjoyed making my colour and looking for facts.

I found it challenging to get links for my images.

My digital learning object shows that I can create a poster.

Next time I will fill some of the blank space.

Working around flax

Today I was learning how to work around flax and how to make a ninja star.

I enjoyed making the ninja star and to weave the flax.

I found it challenging to weave the flax in hard spots and to weave the flax together.

My digital learning object shows that I can work around flax and take care.

Next time I would change the font and colour to a more bolder colour.

Real or Fake

Today I was learning about media and how to remove a back ground.

I enjoyed choosing a pitcher and remove the background.

I found it challenging to find the perfect impossible pitcher.

My digital learning object shows that it is impossible that i can be a pig.

Next time I would the pitcher and make it more intersting.

Media

Today I was learning to make something that includes media and I did a gaming room and it is very cool inside.

I enjoyed making the gaming room and adding in images using the explore tool in the right hand corner.

I found it challenging to find the right type of room and picking which one was the best to look eye catching and to hook people in.

My digital learning object shows that I include media in my project.

Next time I would change the type of media and make my project better and a bit more eye catching to other people that like gaming.

Going To The Eels

last week we went to see the Hustlers pet long fin eels.In the local river. We took some smelly venison. Blake,Charile and I went into the water we went to go and get some venison and then we seen a long string.Then we chunked the meat out into the deep part of the water Blake felt a tuck the eel came right up to us. They were huge like 2 meters long there were about 3 all 3 of them got tangled up.

Mascot

Today I was learning how to duplicate each slide and to make my slides not too short or too long.

I enjoyed making the turtle move and travel from Tonga to Japan.

I found it challenging to to remember to duplicate each slide and It was fun at the same time.

My digital learning object shows that the turtle is going to the world cup in Japan 2019.  It shows I am able to duplicate slides and use arrows to create movement.

Next time I would change some of the colours on my turtle some that it can be seen better.

Mascot

Today I was learning how to polyline my turtle to make a mascot for Tonga for the Rugby world cup.
I enjoyed pressing shift to group a bunch of pieces and colour them in.Also I enjoyed how to polyline the turtle even though it was a bit hard.

I found it challenging to group some of the pieces together.

Next time I would change some colours to make it look more effective and brighter.

The Wacky Stars

Today I was learning about brush ninja hand drawing art. What I liked about brush ninja art was that you could make different kinds of shapes.

I enjoyed to making my own back ground to go with my stars to make it look like it was in the sky.

I found it challenging to when you did one of your slides you had to press the duplicate button when you wanted a new slide.

My digital learning object shows that i like the stars at night and that I care about the stars.

Next time I would change some of the big stars to small stars and so small stars to big stars.

Brush Ninja

Today we learnt to use lunapic and re make our picture.

 It was fun to use the app called lunapic we took a photo the fun thing was that you re make your own face.
